Consignamania™ was written to walk you through the process of hosting a seasonal consignment sale in a logical process – from beginning to end.
Chapter 1 – Decisions, Decisions provides an overview regarding the seasonal consignment sale business and is meant to assist you in determining whether or not you’re even interested in a business endeavor of this type.
By the end of Chapter 2 – I’m Just Happy to Be Here, you should understand the importance of both volunteers and consignors and the significant roles they each play. This chapter also supplies vital information regarding how to recruit and schedule your volunteers – and everything regarding your relationship with your consignors, from their participation fee and commission percentage, to the merchandise you accept from them, to the format of their tags.
As Chapter 3 – Money, Money, Money makes profoundly clear, the money decisions don’t stop with start-up costs. You must determine how to both spend and manage your money.
You also need to spend time making decisions and actively engaging in creating an identity for your sale. Your identity not only needs to separate you from everyone else, but it needs to be clear, consistent, and easy to remember! Chapter 4 – Let Me Introduce Myself… details the importance of your sale's name, logo, color/theme and website. Marketing and advertising are two of the most important things that you will do for your sale. Chapter 5 – All This and Much, Much More discusses, in depth, the advertising options, both free and paid, that are available to you.
Chapter 6 – Racks and Tables and Baskets, OH MY and Chapter 7 – Oh, the Organization of it All cover the topics of equipment, fixtures, and proper sale organization.
Finally, Chapter 8 – It’s Show Time! provides a six week countdown as well as detailed information regarding everything that happens during and immediately after the sale.
